 What can I say, but that I just cannot get enough of this incredible beauty around me, nor can I resist photographing it! SO... no words needed, just enjoy the visual feast!!!

More About Ananda Assisi! (And... a quick trip into town!)

For the first few days here, it was quite cold and, as such, a tough adjustment for me; when I left India on April 21st, it was in the early days of the hot season. Talk about extremes!   However, most thankfully, spring has FINALLY arrived in the hills here, where Ananda Assisi is located. The weather is sunny and gorgeous, and wildflowers abound! When not doing my seva (working on the farm planting/weeding, or helping out with prep work in the kitchens, or doing post-meal clean-ups), I take long walks in the countryside. In fact, I really have no choice about this, because the group house I am staying in (with 5 lovely--and young--housemates!) is a fair distance up the road from both places I work at. OCTOBER 2023: ONE YEAR OF ROAMIN' THE WORLD FINALLY COMPLETED! (My return to the U.S.--Sacramento, CA. and the Ananda Village)

My arrival back in the U.S. completed an entire year of my travels abroad, and as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz proclaimed so astutely, "There is no place like home!"  As much as I love to travel, I ALSO love returning home to California. Seeing the wonderful faces of my dear friends Terri and Prem--when they arrived to pick me up at the Sacramento airport--I immediately felt happiness and relief. I have spent SO very much time alone in my travels... though I met many wonderful people everywhere, it just isn't the same as dear old friends!  And... what else can you say about the good ol' U.S. of A.?!  Compared to many other parts of the world, infrastructure is excellent and there is an efficiency of functioning that Americans expect and take for granted, until they venture out and traipse around the world, as I have done.  Most of Europe is pretty clean, true... but the U.S.-- at least in the nicer parts and places--is hyper -hygenic!  There is also a general op...

Final Post About Assisi-- a full day's visit into town; 5 amazing sites!

Iconic and exceedingly famous, this is the main destination of every tourist and pilgrim who comes to Assisi: The Basilica of St. Francis.  His tomb is beneath the church and is visited by thousands of pilgrims weekly.    A bit about him : " Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone , better known as  Francis of Assisi  (Italian :  Francesco d'Assisi ; c .  1181  – 3 October 1226),  was an Italian mystic  and Catholic friar  who founded the Franciscans . He was inspired to lead a life of poverty as an itinerant preacher.  One of the most venerated figures in Christianity ,  Francis was canonized by Pope Gregory IX  on July 16th, 1228." It is no small deal, getting from the Ananda community into the town of Assisi.
