BOYCOTT AIRBNBs!!!! (AKA, NIGHTMARE IN BRASOV!!!)
Dear reader, PLEASE join me
in the boycott of Airbnb!
This multi-billion dollar corporation is taking over--and ruining!!-- the "hospitality" industry.
Investors buy up huge apartment complexes and other buildings in the historic centers of towns throughout the world, pushing out the local people who live there... SO appalling!
This corporate monster has joined the ranks of other corporations that are just in it for the money... totally devoid of any caring or compassion for the guests that fuel this business. The customer "support" reps are anything but! Clearly, as with the insurance industry, they are in the business of taking money IN and NOT paying it out, even when more than justified, as it was in my case!
And...
The fact that there even IS a website--yes, an actual site--called "Airbnb Hell", just says it all, doesn't it!?!
So...besides starting my boycott campaign, I have lodged a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau in the U.S.; have disputed the charge with my bank; have gotten in touch with an organization called "Fair-Shake", for the purposes of joining in on one of the many class action lawsuits in process against Airbnb. Clearly, I am not the ONLY one being screwed over by them!! It is beyond belief, truly...and tragic.
Here is the review I wrote on the Airbnb site (and also submitted a more formal verson of to the Better Business Bureau in the U.S.):
BUYER, BEWARE! I did NOT stay here! Impossible! I left immediately after documenting ALL issues (photos AND videos, both. I am STILL fighting to get my refund! It is being denied...a nightmare!) The issues: NO key was left for me; I had to pay the Uber driver to go to an admin. office away from the premises in order to procure a key. Joanne has neither lock box NOR code to get in. This was absolutely unacceptable, obviously. However, after getting inside, I was even MORE appalled. Here is the list of everything wrong: 1) The ceiling was leaking water, which was pooling onto the metal stairs below, creating very hazardous conditions (The stairs were necessary to get up to the bedrooms, while the kitchen was below.) 2) The toilet was out-of-order! The top was missing--not flushable. 3) Black mold was ubiquitous--on walls, ceiling, and in the fridge. 4) Power was out downstairs--fridge not working, nor Wifi, as a result. 5) No working lock or key for bedroom door. DO NOT BOOK!!!!!

The horrid, ratty industrial carpeting in the hallway/stairwell area This host's version of a "key box'!!! YIKES!!! Water damage/mold on the walls of the hallway Paint splatter on the old, awful chair in the room... The treacherous, metal stairs of the spiral staircase... water from the ceiling dripped directly onto these stairs, making them an extreme hazard! You can see how much water was accumulating from the water coming in from the ceiling!!!
