Turkey, Part 3: Children's Day In Turkey!

A "chill" family day... I spent the morning walking alone along the Katikoy shoreline (name of the area where I am staying, on the Asian side of Istanbul). I ate delicious roasted chestnuts and a specialty bread called "Simit" (a sesame crusted, circular bread, also known as the Turkish bagel.) I continued to enjoy the civilized behavior of Turkish people, the cleanliness of the streets, the definite flavor of Europe in this modern and lovely city. I could see living here for awhile!

Ece and I, being "kids" together!

We visited their local club, which requires membership, and had some delicious coffee lattes while admiring the sea... the Turkish flag hangs down behind these diners.

The heavenly lattes... oh, how I missed coffee during those 6 long months in India! Amazingly, I could actually get a decaf latte here... impossible feat in India!!!

Swirling a special gooey candy at the children's part of the club, where there was a happy, noisy party taking place in honor of Children's Day.

Lots of kids frollicked happily! Ate treats and played... there was even a pair of Disney characters to entertain them (Mickey and Minnie, of course!)
